What The Heck Can I Do For The 4th of July, When I Can’t Afford To Go Anywhere Due To Insane Gas Prices!?
OK, so we are all getting hit hard by the gas prices and we all know about the problem and how it is hurting the country and the economy, but how what can you do about it to find something fun for you and/or your family and friends for the 4th of July holiday weekend, when it is to darn expensive to go anywhere!?
Sadly, most people are not rich and do not have bundles and bags of cash sitting around to throw away on gas prices, but even those with less available cash can still have a wonderful holiday and weekend if you think and plan properly!
Besides dring and flying all over heck and back, there are many fun cost effective things that you and your family/friends can do.
The following is a list of many options for those who just don’t have the funds to drive and fly anywhere:
- Party At Your House! Simple, fun, doesn’t involve any travel at all (not including trips to the store for food, beverages, movies and games!), but you can have friends and family over for a fun BBQ and pool party, a movie party, games and movies for the kids, and more. Along with avoiding the hassle and cost of gas/flights, this saves you more time to really enjoy your weekend and time off!
- If you do travel/drive somewhere, stay close to home to save money and time. In just about any location/city, there are tons of places to go and stay in your local area such as lakes, rivers, theme parks, rustic towns and locations, parks (just regular old parks!), animal parks, mountains, etc. By staying close to home and choosing a location you know you and the family/kids will enjoy, you cut the cost of traveling far or flying, and once again save some of that valuable time off for enjoying yourself, rather than driving flying everywhere!
- For those without kids, how about a romantic weekend with that special someone. Take him or her to a surprise B&B, close to you and local, on the beach or in a nice and fun part of town, and enjoy a nice dinner or two and a bottle of wine. A simple, romantic weekend doesn’t have to cost a bunch!
- Going to family and friends is always great, as they flip for most of the bill, and have to clean up! Ahh, kidding, wanted to make you all laugh. But, it is nice to visit friends and relatives who are close by, enjoy a weekend with grandma and grandpa, a close friend and their family, some old college buddies, etc. This saves time and money, and if you are a selfish jerk, you really can leave them with the cost and the cleanup!
- Teaming Up! Despite our feigned independence, people really are pack animals. See how people are always in groups of one kind or another, how people join certain groups or cliches (is that how that is spelled!?) all doing things together. So, do things as a group and save money and time together!
- Lastly, take advantage of the quiet time. For many of us who who hard and a lot, a little time off to relax and enjoy some “alone time” or quiet time, is something really nice, and while it is not partying and drinking, traveling and cavorting around the world, it really is nice to spend a quiet weekend just chilling out and relaxing!
Ok, so to recap options available for those who can’t afford the gas and travel prices these days (that is most of America!), there are many options: BBQ’s, Pool Parties, Family/Friend Get Togethers, Local Events and Places to Enjoy, Romantic Weekend, Group Parties and Events, and Much Needed Quiet Time!
All of these are some fun and simple ways to enjoy the holiday weekend, and any weekend, without going broke on the gas prices and travel.
Enjoy your holiday everyone!
